Back Lot Productions, Inc,

Back Lot Productions, Inc, an Atlanta based brand development and design firm, was established in 2000 by Bart Mills and Tracey Barker. Expanding on the traditional rolls of architecture and graphic design, Back Lot’s design trade is story telling, or what we call Markitecture.

Our philosophy of Markitecture is what differentiates Back Lot. Marketing your brand through the built environment to evoke the desired emotional response from your guest. We start with the heart and soul of a brand and create a built environment that tells the brand story. Everything that touches the customer and employee alike, must speak back to the brand. Our approach to design is unique in that we learn everything about the brand and the guest before commencing the creative process. Our work is never design for design sake, it is about operations and the guest, and it is always to enhance the brand while increasing revenue per square foot.

We spend a lot of time with the operations teams. We’ve worked in stores, we attended make-up school and we now know how to make World Famous Cinnamon Rolls. We’ve tasted a lot of food and slept in a lot of hotel rooms. It is this immersion not only into the guest personality, but also into the operations, that allows us to create an environment that focuses on the guests’s needs and desires as well as enhancing the ability of operations to focus on the guests’ needs and desires.
